Fore the Ladies, Inc., is a female-based community and 501(c)(3) non-profit on a mission to introduce more women to the game and bring them together to play, watch, and participate in everything golf has to offer. We hope to make golf more accessible and approachable, while removing the expected barriers such as cost, equipment, golf course access and intimidation.
Founder (and President) Abby Liebenthal was the only girl in her group of friends growing up who played golf. She never thought much of it, as it was simply a summertime family activity. This theme continued through college, but more and more of her friends wanted to at least try to hit golf balls and learn the game. They felt they were missing business, social and networking opportunities that happen on the golf course, and Abby wanted to create something that encouraged them to get into the game in a non-intimidating atmosphere.
We know so many women who simply don’t know where to start when it comes to golf. They aren’t sure they’ll like the game, so they don’t want to invest in lessons, equipment, apparel and access to a course. We certainly understand that. We wouldn’t purchase a membership to a cycle studio without trying first.
Voila, in 2019 Fore the Ladies was born.
When one intro-to-golf clinic turned into two, and then five, and now more than 150 events since 2019, we knew we had something special.
The year 2020 changed many lives and Ashlee’s career and life changed overnight. She was living in Los Angeles, traveling the world, and working for Los Angeles Tourism when the unexpected happened. She was no longer employed and L.A. shut down. Ashlee decided to drive across country to be closer to family. Minnesota was home, it was where she grew up, and her family and friends were still there. It was an easy decision but was only to last a few months. Ha!
Ashlee joined the LPGA Amateurs Minnesota Chapter to keep her busy with all her new free time. She had an idea to take her passion for travel, her love for the game of golf, and years of destination leisure sales marketing, and take the leap of entrepreneurship where the vision of Women on Fairways, LLC was born.
She knew there was a gap in the golf tourism market for a women-owned golf company that specializes in women’s golf trips. She knows what women want when it comes to traveling - beautiful resorts, full-service amenities, wellness and fitness programs, dining options, location to things to do, and golf courses that are enjoyable and cater to women in every sense. She loves the game but it’s not always about the number of rounds on an itinerary.
Ashlee has embraced entrepreneurship and being a women-owned business in the golf industry. She has built Women on Fairways to be the number one golf and lifestyle company for the women’s golf market. The goal is to create experiential golf itineraries for all skill levels of players, take the planning off your plate, and have more women want to travel on a golf trip.
