Abby Swenson is the founder of Northern Greens, a women’s golf collective created to make the game more accessible, welcoming, and connected.
She was first introduced to golf as a teenager at Highland Park Senior High, just across from a course where her dad would have her meet him at the driving range. At the time, it didn’t stick.
Years later, while building her career in tech sales and working alongside her dad on Great Places Minnesota, Abby found her way back to the game. After taking an LPGA 101 clinic, she quickly reconnected with golf—this time with a deeper sense of purpose.
In 2022, she joined a local women’s golf club and saw both the power of community and a clear gap: opportunities for women were often scattered, hard to find, and not always beginner-friendly.
So she built something different.
In March 2024, Northern Greens launched as a passion project—bringing women together through approachable, community-driven golf experiences. What started as a few tee times has grown into a supportive, inclusive community where women of all skill levels can show up, play, and feel like they belong.
Outside of work and the course, Abby enjoys getting outside, Pilates and yoga, cooking and baking, or a well-earned “rot day” with Harry Potter on the projector.

The 40 Under 40 Awards honor the next generation of leaders who are shaping the future of business, culture, and community right here in the Minneapolis and St. Paul region.

Abby Swenson started Northern Greens Golf Collective; a social club for women connect and golf.
