About Northern Greens Golf Collective

When Minnesota golf season hits, we’re on the course weekly.

Our Social Hour rounds are designed to make getting out to play easy, consistent, and welcoming for golfers of all experience levels.

Weeknight Social 9s are typically hosted one to three times per week across the metro. These rounds are usually walking nine holes, with tee times scheduled between 4:30–6:00pm depending on course league schedules and sunset. They’re the perfect option for after-work golf and a great way to meet other women in the community.

Weekend 18s offer a more relaxed extended round, typically in the morning or afternoon with riding carts. When registering, you’ll select your preferred tee time slot so you can choose what works best for your schedule. Prior to every event, we send detailed pre-event emails so you know exactly what to expect before arriving at the course.

Looking ahead to 2026, we’re expanding our outdoor offerings to include Beginner Nights at Par 3 courses and “Play Your Skill Level” tee times, where specific tee slots will be designated for intermediate players who want to play alongside golfers of similar experience.

We do not keep handicap at Northern Greens. Our focus is social, welcoming golf — not league pressure.

Registration and pre-payment is required. When registering, you will get to choose the tee time you'd like to play in!

More info can be found on our FAQ page!

Driving Range Meetups

Our driving range meetups are one of the most casual ways to get involved with Northern Greens. These flexible, low-pressure gatherings are perfect whether you’re brand new to golf or simply want extra practice time.

When you register, your spot includes your own bay and a bucket of balls, giving you the freedom to practice at your own pace while still connecting with the community.

These meetups are especially great for new golfers, skill-building sessions, low-commitment plans, or bringing a friend who wants to check out Northern Greens for the first time.

Golf + Social Combos

Some of our most-loved events combine time on the course with time to connect off the course. These experiences are designed to keep golf fun, social, and approachable.

Throughout the season, you’ll see offerings like 9 & Wine, where we play nine holes together and then head to a local winery to continue the fun. We also host themed events, end-of-season scrambles, and occasional co-ed gatherings that bring the broader golf community together.

These events tend to fill quickly and are a favorite for members who love the social side of the game just as much as the golf itself.

Outdoor Events - Golf Etiquette & Expectations

One of the things I love most about Northern Greens events is how welcoming and fun they are. Whether you’re brand new to the game or have been golfing for years, we’re all here for the same reason — to have a great time on the course together.

To make sure every round runs smoothly and everyone feels comfortable, here are some friendly etiquette reminders for all events!

🌟 General Guidelines

  • We play casual golf, but we still follow basic golf etiquette to keep things fun, fair, and  flowing.
  • If you’re unsure about a rule, a term, or whose turn it is — ask! We’re here to help, not judge.

🕒 Arrival & Getting Ready

  • Arrive early enough (at least 15 minutes early) to check in with the facilitator, get your cart, and be ready when your group is called to the tee.
  • Have tees, balls, a ball marker, and a repair tool with you — it keeps the round moving.

We understand that our weeknight tee times often follow a workday, so please plan accordingly for travel and rush hour traffic. Running late or no-showing—even if prepayment has been made—can reflect poorly on our group.  Because many of the courses we play partner with Northern Greens and Great Places Minnesota, we aim to represent our community with professionalism and respect. If you're running late or something comes up, please communicate with the event facilitator so we can support the group and the course.

🏌️‍♀️ Teeing Off

  • Tee selection: Most of us play from the red tees (colors vary by course, red is pretty standard), but feel free to choose the tees that best suit your game. Just let      your foursome know your plan before starting the hole so everyone’s on the same page.
  • If everyone is playing from the      same tee’s, the lowest score from the previous hole typically tees off  first, but we often use ready golf — if you’re ready and it’s safe, go ahead.
  • If you whiff (miss) your first  shot, be prepared to take another right away — keep an extra ball in your pocket to avoid running back to your bag or cart.
  • Mulligans (redo shots) aren’t part of official rules, but in casual play, groups may allow one or two — usually off the tee. Decide as a group before starting.

🌱 Fairway & Long Game

  • Lost balls: We hate a lost ball! Spend no more than a few minutes searching — then drop a new ball and keep moving. Always watch your ball’s flight to track where it lands and ask your group to keep an eye as well.
  • Mark your ball: Add a dot, line, or stamp so you can identify it easily and avoid hitting the wrong one.
  • Divots: Replace them or use the sand/seed mix provided. Here’s how: How to Repair Divots – USGA
  • Bunkers: Enter from the low side, play your shot, then rake the sand smooth before leaving.
  • Pace of play: Keep up with the group in front of you. If you’re ready and it’s safe, hit — that’s “ready golf.”

⛳ Around the Greens

  • Be quiet and still while others are hitting or putting.
  • Avoid stepping on someone’s putting line (the path between their ball and the hole).
  • Repair your ball marks (and any others you see). Here’s how: How to Repair Ball Marks – USGA
  • Mark your ball with a coin or marker if it’s in someone’s putting line.

🤝 On-Course Camaraderie

  • Be mindful of different skill levels, new players, and varying playing styles.
  • If you’d like to offer feedback, advice, or tips — or educate someone on rules or etiquette — ask permission first and please do so in an uplifting, friendly, and supportive tone.
  • Remember: these meetups are meant to be fun, casual, and inclusive for golfers of all skill levels. Let people play the way they want to — as long as it’s not interfering with your game.
